The elections were conducted due to the sudden resignation of Tracy Brabin, who is the previous Member of Parliament. The result of the elections was announced on June 01, 2021 (Thursday). Kim Leadbeater won the elections by 323 votes and became the MP for Batley and Spen constituency.

According to Wikipedia, Kim got 13,296 votes in total and the leader of the Conservative party named Ryan Stephenson received 12,973 votes. Kim made a video to thank all the people who voted for her and uploaded it on her social media accounts. She said:-
I want to say a massive thank you to every single person who was part of this campaign in the Batley & Spen by-elections”
